Theme and Design
Yggdrasil is known for high-quality graphics, and Empire Fortune shows why. The reels are framed in gold and set in an ornate palace hall. The symbols include Fabergé eggs, royal jewellery and other imperial treasures, while a jester figure acts as the Scatter. The animations are detailed and the orchestral music adds to the sense of luxury. It is one of the most elegant jackpot slots available.
How to Play Empire Fortune
Empire Fortune has 20 fixed paylines. Wins pay from left to right with three or more matching symbols on a line. You choose your stake and spin. The Wild symbol substitutes for regular symbols to complete winning lines. Two special symbols lead to the features: the Jester Scatter, which triggers free spins, and the Fabergé egg Bonus symbol, which triggers the Jackpot Wheel.
The Jackpot Wheel
Three or more Fabergé egg Bonus symbols trigger the Jackpot Wheel. The wheel can award cash prizes, free spins or a chance at one of the three progressive jackpots. The more Bonus symbols you land, the higher the level of the wheel you start on, which improves your chances of reaching the bigger prizes. The top jackpot is the Empire jackpot, which can grow to several million euros before it is won.
Free Spins with Multipliers
Three or more Jester Scatters award free spins together with a win multiplier. The more Scatters you land, the more spins and the higher the multiplier you receive, up to 30 free spins with a 10x multiplier. A round with a high multiplier can produce big wins even without hitting a jackpot. The free spins can also be retriggered.
Big Jackpot Wins
Empire Fortune has a strong track record. One of the most widely reported wins was a jackpot of around €2.2 million, which made headlines in the gambling press. Such wins are rare, but they show the potential of the game. Always remember that progressive jackpots are extremely hard to win, and you should never play with the expectation of hitting one.
RTP and Volatility
The RTP of Empire Fortune is around 94.3%, which includes the share of every bet that goes into the jackpot pools. This is lower than most non-jackpot slots, which is normal for progressive jackpot games. Some casinos may also offer a different RTP setting. The volatility is high: regular wins are modest, and the biggest payouts come from free spins with high multipliers or from the Jackpot Wheel.
Playing Empire Fortune in the UK
At UK-licensed casinos, slots follow the rules of the UK Gambling Commission. Autoplay and turbo spins are not allowed, spins last at least 2.5 seconds, and the maximum stake is £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over, or £2 per spin for players aged 18 to 24. UK players compete for the same networked jackpots as players in other markets.
Empire Fortune on Mobile
The game runs on iPhone, Android phones and tablets, and you can win the progressive jackpots on mobile as well. The detailed graphics still look great on a smaller screen. See our guide to mobile slots in the UK.
Empire Fortune vs Other Jackpot Slots
Empire Fortune competes with famous jackpot slots such as NetEnt’s Mega Fortune and Microgaming’s Mega Moolah. All three use a bonus wheel to award progressive jackpots. Mega Moolah has paid the largest jackpots, while Empire Fortune stands out with its free spins multipliers of up to 10x and its polished design. The RTP of Empire Fortune is higher than Mega Moolah’s but lower than Mega Fortune’s.
Who Is Empire Fortune For?
Empire Fortune suits players who want a shot at a progressive jackpot in a beautifully designed game, and who are comfortable with high volatility. The free spins add real value beyond the jackpot. If you prefer a higher RTP and more regular wins, a non-jackpot slot will suit you better.
How Progressive Jackpots Work
A progressive jackpot grows with every bet placed on the game. A small percentage of each stake is added to the jackpot pool, and because Empire Fortune is played at many casinos, the pool can grow quickly. When a player wins, the jackpot resets to a starting amount and starts growing again. This is why the RTP of a jackpot slot looks lower than that of a regular slot: part of the return is paid out as rare, very large prizes rather than regular wins. For most players, the jackpot will never be won, so it is best to enjoy the game for its regular features and see the jackpot as a bonus.
Tips for Playing Empire Fortune
- Set a strict budget: jackpots are rare, so never chase them.
- Know the trade-off: part of every bet funds the jackpots, so regular returns are lower.
- Enjoy the free spins: multipliers of up to 10x can make the bonus very rewarding.
- Check bonus terms: jackpot slots are often excluded from bonus play, so read the terms first.
