In this 9 Masks of Fire slot review we explain how the game works, how the scatter pays add up and what the free spins offer.

Design and Theme
The game has a warm, fiery look, with flames around the reels and a set of carved tribal masks as the star symbols. The rest of the reels use classic symbols with a fruit machine feel, such as bells, sevens, bars and cherries. That mix of a classic layout with a bold, exotic theme is part of its appeal: it feels familiar from the first spin, but still has a character of its own.
How to Play 9 Masks of Fire
9 Masks of Fire uses 20 fixed paylines. Wins from regular symbols pay from left to right when three or more matching symbols land on a payline. You only choose your stake per spin.
The Wild symbol substitutes for the regular symbols to complete winning lines. It does not replace the scatter mask, which has its own way of paying.
The Scatter Masks
The fire mask is the key symbol. It is a scatter, which means it pays wherever it lands on the reels, not just on a payline. The more masks appear on the same spin, the higher the scatter prize, and the payouts rise sharply with every extra mask. Landing all nine masks on the reels pays the top scatter prize of 2,000x your stake, which gives the game its name.
Because masks pay anywhere, even a spin without any line wins can produce a decent payout. That creates a steady flow of small and medium wins, which is a big reason why many players find the game relaxing to play.
Free Spins
The free spins are triggered by the Free Spins shield symbols, not by the masks. Three or more shields start a bonus wheel that awards between 10 and 30 free spins, each segment with a 2x or 3x multiplier on line wins. The scatter masks keep paying anywhere on the reels during the free spins.
The multiplied line wins, combined with the scatter masks, are where the biggest payouts in the game come from. Thirty free spins at 3x is the best result the wheel can give, and a round with several mask combinations can turn into a strong result, even at modest stakes.
RTP, Volatility and Maximum Win
The standard RTP of 9 Masks of Fire is 96.24%, slightly above the industry average. Some casinos may offer a lower RTP version, so check the game information to be sure. The volatility is medium: wins come at a fairly regular pace, and the scatter masks soften the swings of the base game.
The maximum win depends on the number of masks and the multiplier during free spins. The exact figure is shown in the game information at your casino.
