Immortal Romance is one of the most loved slots ever played in the UK. Microgaming released it in 2011, and more than a decade later its dark love story, haunting soundtrack and layered bonus system still keep players coming back. The game follows four characters, each with a story and a free spins feature of their own, which you unlock step by step. In this Immortal Romance slot review we explain how the game works, what the Chamber of Spins offers and whether it is worth your time.

A Story of Vampires and Romance
The slot is set in a gloomy gothic world inspired by vampire fiction. Four characters appear on the reels: Amber, a witch, Troy, a 500-year-old vampire, Michael, a younger vampire with a dangerous past, and Sarah, a doctor caught up in their world. Each character has a short back story in the game, and their symbols are the highest paying on the reels. The low-value symbols are card ranks, and there is also a castle and a spell book.
The atmosphere is a big part of the appeal. The soundtrack changes when you enter different bonuses, and the dark artwork stands out from the bright, cartoon-like design of many modern slots.
How to Play Immortal Romance
Immortal Romance uses 243 ways to win. Any matching symbols on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel, form a win, so you do not need to follow paylines. You only choose your stake per spin.
The Immortal Romance logo is the Wild symbol. It substitutes for all regular symbols and doubles any win it is part of. The door knocker is the Scatter: three or more anywhere on the reels trigger the Chamber of Spins and also pay a scatter prize.
Wild Desire
Wild Desire is a random base game feature. On any spin, it can turn up to five full reels wild, creating some of the biggest base game wins in the slot. It does not trigger often, but when it does, the screen fills with wilds and a big payout is almost guaranteed.
The Chamber of Spins
The Chamber of Spins is the heart of Immortal Romance. Every time you trigger it, you get closer to unlocking more free spins features. At first only Amber is available, but the other characters unlock as you return to the Chamber more often:
| Feature | Unlocks | Free spins | What happens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amber | From the first trigger | 10 | All wins are multiplied by 5x |
| Troy | From the 5th trigger | 15 | Vampire Bats turn symbols into 2x or 3x multipliers |
| Michael | From the 10th trigger | 20 | Rolling Reels with a multiplier that grows with each consecutive win, up to 5x |
| Sarah | From the 15th trigger | 25 | Wild Vine turns symbols into extra wilds |
Your progress is saved, so you can continue unlocking characters across sessions at the same casino. Once all four features are unlocked, you choose which one to play each time you enter the Chamber. Many players see Sarah’s Wild Vine feature as the most rewarding, while Amber’s simple 5x multiplier gives the most consistent results.
RTP, Volatility and Maximum Win
The standard RTP of Immortal Romance is 96.86%, which is above average for a slot. Some casinos may run a lower RTP version, so it is worth checking the game information. The volatility is high: you can play for a while without a big win, and much of the value comes from Wild Desire and the free spins features.
The maximum win is 12,150x your stake. Reaching it requires a combination of wilds and high-value symbols, usually during a strong free spins round.
Immortal Romance on Mobile
The game was rebuilt in HTML5 and works smoothly on iPhone, Android phones and tablets. The dark graphics remain clear on a small screen, and the Chamber of Spins menu is easy to use with your finger. For more tips, see our guide to mobile slots in the UK.
Playing Immortal Romance in the UK
At UK-licensed casinos, Immortal Romance follows the rules of the UK Gambling Commission. There is no autoplay or turbo spin, each spin takes at least 2.5 seconds, and the maximum stake is £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over, or £2 for players aged 18 to 24. The features, paytable and RTP are the same as elsewhere.
Immortal Romance II
A sequel, Immortal Romance II, brought the story back with updated graphics and new features. The original is still the more popular of the two in the UK, mainly because of the unlockable Chamber of Spins and the nostalgia many players feel for it. If you enjoy the first game, the sequel is worth a try, but the classic remains the reference.
Who Is Immortal Romance For?
Immortal Romance suits players who enjoy a slot with a story and long-term goals. The unlockable features give you a reason to come back, and the high volatility offers big win potential. It is less suited to players who want frequent small wins, or who prefer a short, simple session. If you like Norse mythology instead of vampires, Thunderstruck II uses a very similar unlockable bonus system.
Tips for Playing Immortal Romance
- Play at one casino: your Chamber of Spins progress is saved per casino, so sticking to one site helps you unlock all features.
- Budget for the bonus: high volatility means the Chamber can take a while to trigger.
- Try each character: once unlocked, test the features to see which suits your playing style.
- Check the RTP version: look in the game information to see which RTP your casino offers.
- Use free spins offers wisely: some casinos offer free spins on Games Global slots. UK wagering is capped at 10x since January 2026.
Is Immortal Romance Worth Playing?
Yes. Immortal Romance is a true classic, with a strong theme, a generous RTP and one of the best bonus systems in online slots. The high volatility will not suit everyone, but if you enjoy the build-up of unlocking new features, few slots offer as much depth.
